﻿{"id":84,"date":"2015-02-10T20:49:35","date_gmt":"2015-02-11T01:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oberlin.ws\/?page_id=84"},"modified":"2015-05-26T12:22:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-26T16:22:16","slug":"think-critically-and-reflectively-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/obie.one\/?page_id=84","title":{"rendered":"Think Critically and Reflectively"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EDCI 66000\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Learning Design and Technology Seminar<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/obie.one\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Artifact-EDCI-66000B-Career-Pathway-Personal-Reflection.docx\">Artifact &#8211; EDCI 66000B &#8211; Career Pathway &#8211; Personal Reflection<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develops a personal vision of inclusive educational practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Taking my past experiences into consideration while contemplating how they apply in an educational setting helped to shape my perspectives towards instructional design. \u00a0My personal reflection describes ways that technology can enable learning in cases where it would be ineffective without it.\u00a0 By reflecting on these descriptions I not only understood their meaning but also how pedagogies can adapt to accompany them.\u00a0 For instance, one video featured a lecture by Dr. Anne Ottenbreit-Leftwich who explained how knowing what technology should be used within the classroom can help form desired approaches of learning and applying them towards desired outcomes.\u00a0 In other words,\u00a0 if the objective is for learners to be more familiar with information delivery formats, lessons may include researching websites, viewing video lectures, podcasts, and other videos on YouTube.\u00a0 This reinforces by belief in the notion that whatever format is chosen it should always rely on student-centered instruction.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describes the relationship between Educational Technology and the broader field of Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The artifact also illustrates how multiple disciplines in media and design can merge with techniques and methods to further education.\u00a0 For example, Erin Kenny of Tier 1 Performance Solutions, noted that her firm had a creative department including its own production studio.\u00a0 Therefore, my knowledge of video and audio production is still useful in curriculum design.\u00a0 Additionally, it represents a perspective of style and expertise that I can provide, saving\u00a0a potential stakeholder some effort in seeking further outside assistance.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Critically evaluates theory and practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One thing that I firmly believe regardless of any advanced form of educational technology, is that it can never completely replace the need for human interaction. \u00a0While in the artifact I describe several tools that can be used to supplement learning, the fundamental practice of human interaction remains. \u00a0I also discuss how the experiences of\u00a0Dr. Dana Ruggiero in the United Kingdom, suggest that these elements are universal.
